Don uncovered the strawberries last week and the raspberries this week. With the wonderful rains and warmer temperatures the plants are growing and looking great! Our season, as you would guess, will be late this year. Right now we are thinking mid to late June. We will have a better idea when we see our first blossom.
We also just put up a high tunnel. For those of you that are unfamiliar with what a high tunnel is, they have the same concept as a green house. We will be planting “day neutral” strawberries in it. Day-neutral strawberries will continue to set and ripen fruit all summer long until a hard frost puts them into dormancy. We are very excited to be offering locally grown strawberries in our market till late fall.
We purchased a new ice cream machine and have tested it out and according to our friends and family it was a big hit! We are also adding some new products to our store that we think are “extra special”. Needless to say we are getting very excited for this season to arrive!!
